Eleonore Esau works in a variety of media: acrylic, ink, mixed media, and collage, the choice being dictated by the affinity of the medium to the subject. Each medium poses challenges for the artist and evokes unique and specific responses in the viewer.
Physical textures created by the layering of events over time fascinate Eleonore. As each new stratum is laid, the whole blends into an intriguing totality that inspires her creativity.
A Winnipeg native who has lived abroad and travelled extensively, Eleonore is a juried member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Manitoba Society of Artists, with whom she exhibits regularly.
Her work is sold in Pure Art Gallery and the Kennedy Gallery in Georgetown, Grand Cayman and in Birchwood Gallery in Winnipeg.
In 2007, Eleonore’s painting “Guido’s Day” was awarded the People’s Choice Award at Manitoba Art Expo. More recently, “Vessels Series: Jugs” placed second in the Eastman Judged Art Exhibition in Whitemouth, Manitoba, while “La Dolce Vita II” received third prize at the Red River Exhibition in 2019.
In May, 2014, Eleonore mounted a solo exhibition in Manhattan, New York at the invitation of Artifact Gallery. Her next solo exhibition was at Piano Nobile Gallery in the Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall. Eleonore has participated in the Boreal Shores Art Tour in previous years.
Her work hangs in private and corporate collections around the world, including Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Grand and Little Cayman.
