Even though art was not part of my formal education, I found myself teaching art many years ago which opened a whole new world for me. Initially being assigned teaching art caused me a great deal of angst as I felt I had no skills in making art, let alone teaching art. I immediately signed up for a watercolour workshop hoping to acquire skills to teach art to students. During that first painting experience I became so fully engaged in the activity that “everything else just dropped away”. That was the beginning of my journey into the world of making and embracing art. My life was profoundly changed. Longing, searching and exploration are some of the ways to describe my journey with art. My work studio is a place where I can express and explore through various mediums as I strive to capture emotion and energy in my paintings. I am mostly influenced today by nature and enjoy photographing images of this ever changing canvas. I usually have several paintings on the go at one time and have recently returned to working with watercolour along with various mixed mediums.

I was a participant in the Eastern Jural Mentorship Program. I have entered paintings in several Judged Art Exhibitions including the Eastman Judged Art Exhibition where I won People’s Choice Award in 2011 and received first and second place in Mixed Media and Acrylic categories in 2013.
