A first time participant in the BSAT, Ingrid has always loved the beauty of art while visiting art galleries, exhibitions and museums. Devoting herself to her own artwork only began once she retired from working in Manitoba’s Tourism Industry – a career which allowed her to gain a love of nature and an appreciation of Manitoba’s flora and fauna. Guiding tours to Churchill were the high point of her career and these wonderful experiences enabled her to gain a special love for the Polar Bear population of Hudson Bay. Ingrid and her husband Reinhard owned a hobby farm in the Municipality of Springfield for 27 years. Their flower gardens were always brimming with colour, songbirds were abundant and wildlife were common visitors to their 13 acres. Photographing these visitors became a passion and turning these photographs into artwork became the next logical step! As a self taught artist inspired by the Impressionists , Ingrid has dabbled in many different mediums including acrylics, pastels, pencil, charcoal, oils. However multi media is a definite favourite. She loves to experiment with textures on different unique surfaces or canvases including birch slabs, linen or wood canvases, rocks, book marks and more. Ingrid relies heavily on on-line instruction and belongs to various online artistic support groups, gathering advice, support and constructive criticism! She has set up a cozy little corner in Clara’s Cottage where she and her business partner, Pam O’Leary, often work together perfecting their artistic endeavours! They work well together as a team, inspiring each other with constructive criticism and advice!
