Following in the footsteps of his father, Rick Merritt explores the endless possibilities that working with wood and paint can offer. Born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba, Rick spent most of his childhood summers at West Hawk Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park, exploring the wonders of nature.

It was there, where he now calls home, that sparked an
interest in recreating wildlife through carving and painting.
For the last twenty years, Rick has been shaping,
constructing, painting and carving his visions to life with his
own unique style. His latest adventures have led him to
working with Russ Kubara of Manitoba Chainsaw Sculptors
and Timberman Walter Keller, to learn the fine art of
chainsaw carving.

Rick embraces the challenge that carving
and painting wildlife has to offer. With an eye for detail he
dives into the spirit of each subject creating a true likeness
and character that is uniquely his own.
