With a career as an art and film educator, I resumed my passion of painting and writing when I began my early retirement. The first two years were dedicated to experimentation with word and imagery. Starting in 2023, I found my creative voice and began producing works that best represented my artistic expression.

With every artwork, the process starts by photographing people that surround me, going about their everyday lives. Of the many pictures taken, only a few will offer me the foundation for a story. These choices are inspired by personal experience and social observation. Once that selection has taken place, I zoom in on one specific area of the original photograph and from there decide on my canvas size. A short story then evolves as the painting is being created. Both exist symbiotically.

The people represented in the paintings may bare likeness to the people in the original photograph and may or may not have anything to do with the story. Simply, they are the catalyst.
